In the tech world, leaks are an inevitable part of the game. But when it comes to Google, it seems like the game has been elevated to a whole new level. Recently, we had a first look at Google’s Pixel 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL – a whopping five months ahead of Google’s usual October release schedule. I’m not sure whether to be excited or perplexed by this premature reveal.
Firstly, I can’t help but wonder why these units are already out in the wild. Are they lost or are they on a strategic stroll? Google hasn’t left any stones unturned in the past when it comes to leaks, so it’s hard to believe that this is unintentional. Is it possible that Google plans to shift their release to an earlier date in 2024? Or is it a teaser for tomorrow’s Google I/O keynote?
One thing’s for sure – the 9 Pro has caught everyone’s eye. It’s about time Google incorporated their top-notch camera into a normal-sized phone. And the 9 Pro XL? Well, it’s giving Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max a run for its money in the height department.
A noticeable change in the Pixel’s design is the absence of the ‘camera bar’. It used to span the entire width of the phone, but not anymore. Despite this, the new style still carries a unique charm, setting it apart from Apple and Samsung. As for the camera system, the standard Pixel 9 is sticking with a two-camera system, while the Pro is stepping it up with a third lens for telephoto/zoom purposes.
But enough about the 9 series, what about the Pixel Fold 2, or should I say the Pixel 9 Pro Fold? Where is it hiding amidst all these leaks? We already know what the 9 series looks like, so Google, at least show us some different colors, or maybe a hint about the Pixel Fold 2.
And finally, in a world where everything is live, why not have an automatic play from Young Frankenstein when he says, “it’s alive, it’s alive!” when you go live. Lasers or fireworks would be a pretty badass addition, don’t you think?
So, here we are, with a bunch of questions and a handful of leaked images. While the anticipation is thrilling, I can’t help but feel a tad bit overwhelmed by this early reveal. But hey, that’s Google for you, always keeping us on our toes.
